What's In Your TBR pile?

Our Crazy-for-Books blog hop for today asks "How many books are in our TBR pile right now?"

I have 3 TBR (to be read) piles and 2 shelves!
Pile 1 = 6 books - a variety of ARCs, novels, and creativity-related books
Pile 2 = one huge World Literature textbook plus three novels and a non-fiction self-help book = 5 books
Pile 3 = 5 books, all professional  development
Shelf 1 = 26 books, mostly novels
Shelf 2 = 41 books, novels, short fiction, books about writing
And if the books on hold waiting at the library count too, then that's 3 more books in another 'pile'!

Check my math: a quick tally says 86 books at the moment, and more in the mailbox on Monday, I'm sure...

Given that tally, I think it's time to wrap up the ones I'm on and get through one or two more this weekend.  The first will be Caleb's Crossing, the new novel from Geraldine Brooks.

What's at the top of your TBR?

MFB,
L

And you're warmly invited to join me in a read-along and a hop this week!

2.  Weekend Poem In Your Post blog hop here tomorrow and Sunday.  Share a wonderful poem and spread the word-love...

*pffft* Amateur. :-)

Seriously I wish I ONLY had 86 on my to-read pile!

I have about 200 books on mine. I might need to take a leave of absence from work to tackle the pile.

I'm getting ideas through the Hop of how to better manage my TBR. I'm focusing on just the physical books in the library bag right now (keeps me from panicking). :) Happy Hopping!

Hahahahahaha! Sorry, my TBR is sooooo long I could never ever start to list them off so I had to chuckle. But I will be participating in the hop with my own sarcastic answer shortly ;)

I've long since lost the ability to count via shelf. So now I have a database to help me count. Come read my Book Blogger Hop post in which I discuss my TBR and coin a new way of measuring it.

I have such a love/hate relationship with my TBR piles and shelves: On one hand, I feel a bit embarrassed at my own tendencies to accumulate "stuff" that impacts our natural world and - frankly - makes parts of my home look cluttered. On the other hand, I feel compelled to have plenty of choices on hand at all times, and tend to juggle at least three books at a time.
I when it comes to limiting the physical over-abundance, I'm learning to keep longer TBR lists on Goodreads and on my library account, rather than purchasing them at the bookstore. And to be honest, the action-reading practice has helped me begin to curb the TBR pile because I'm not focused on consuming books but on finding ways for each book to spark a positive change in the world...

I would love to join the Creative Habit discussion but can't find the book where I live (and we are in the middle of a postal strike, so can't order one). I will keep it on my list and hopefully will find it soon. I would love to hear more about it.

That's pretty close to my tally of 93. It's manageable for the most part and I don't feel overwhelmed. Hope you feel the same :) Have a great weekend!
