Freedom to Read in Egypt and Tunisia!

A spot of good news:  Banned books are back!  Check this link to get the story from the UK's Guardian, or try this version & converse at Good Magazine online...

In these days of chaotic rebellion amid considerable bloodshed, it can be heartening to remember that the very people risking their lives for freedom can - if they succeed - later take solace in a good book.

I like to think that some future conflicts might be avoided if we shaped our lives by reading widely and acting wisely.

Looking to encourage literacy worldwide?  Actually, betterworldbooks.com has a pretty helpful round-up of reading charities listed on their site, and I'll be featuring one reading-related nonprofit venture every week or two in my "hip to be reading" and "word news" posts.  Check out some of my past ones, if you like...
